Degrees:  Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Education, Master of Arts in English, Rank I as an Education Specialist

I began my career in education as a student teacher at WCHS in the spring of 2009.  I was hired by Franklin County High School in Frankfort, KY that summer.  My first teaching assignment was in the fall of 2009 when I taught Reading 9, Reading 11, and Honors English 4.  The following year, I taught Reading 9, Honors English 2, and English 4 at FCHS.  I applied and was hired as an English teacher at WCHS in the summer of 2011 while I was also involved with the Morehead Writing Project at MSU.  While at WCHS, I have taught English 1 and 2, Honors English 1 and 2, English Intervention, and Yearbook.  During my first year as Assistant Principal (2016-17 school year), I also taught AP Literature.  I'm beginning my second year as Assistant Principal, with a focus on curriculum and assessment.

Interests/Hobbies:  Attending WC sporting events, spending time with my husband (Chris) and family/friends, reading, & watching Forensic Files.

Daniel Barker

Experience:  7 yrs teaching with 4 yrs at West Carter High
Education:  Morehead State University, University of the Cumberlands, Asbury University
Degrees:  Bachelor Degree in Social Studies Instruction, Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership, Master of Arts in Special Education, Endorsement for Principal Certification

This is my 7th year in education, and my fourth year at West Carter.  This will be my first year as an assistant principal at WCHS.  I previously taught 3 years at another school in the county.

In my 7 years as an educator in Carter County I have taught US History (AP & EOC), Geography, World History, and Government.  I have served on the Regional Social Studies network through KDE, as well as the District  Advisory Council through the Carter County Board of Education.  In addition, I have participated in numerous committees within the school system.

In addition to my daily school responsibilities I serve as the Defensive Coordinator for the Comet Football Team and the Social Studies coach for our Academic Team.
